Basic Overview
Temiraan is a recent university graduate working in the off-station/traveling archaeological group for the Martian Nexus Space Colony branch of USAS. They're loud, upbeat, and optimistic, and almost routinely get told off by their boss. Kot-aa, for prodding at the rules and regulations a little too frequently. Despite their trouble making streak and propensity for being a bit of a joker, Temiraan is wicked smart (having graduated as one of the top 3 members of their class) and capable of dropping everything to fully focus on the task at hand. This and their ability to lift and shove more weight than the rest of their (significantly smaller) team has made them invaluable, and ultimately prevents Kot-aa from writing them up or firing them over the little things they do to get on her nerves. They've got a love hate relationship with rom-coms, a somewhat distant relationship with the rest of their foster human family, a better relationship with their bio older sister, and spend most of their free time either at home or hanging out with their coworker and childhood friend, Alex.
They enjoy Warhammer 40k because its level of battle complexity and the amount of minifigures itches their problem solving brain in all the right ways, as well as deck building and other strategy games. When not delving into an hours-long gaming endeavor, they enjoy physical puzzle toys like rubiks cubes and kanoodle.
Temiraan works with and is friends with Kot-aa and Alex. Tem is also friends with Reeva and his partner Dex. They work for Kot-aa at USAS
*SGE is the standardized version of Eshtat, the Chenesht language. Each region and culture has their own dialect, some of which are so distinct that they are functionally their own language. Temiraan does not speak Eshtachlâs [Chlâsle dialect Eshtat] due to being a cross-species foster case, but managed to keep up fluency in SGE by speaking it with their sister all throughout childhood.
The Foster Dilemma
Temiraan and their older sister Danet were placed in the Martian foster system after the untimely death of their Cob-parent** and subsequent neglectful spiral of their Reeve-parent** that led to both of them being taken into custody by CPS. They were in and out of foster homes for a little while, largely due to the human-majority population on the Martian Nexus and the hesitancy they had towards raising two 'alien' children. Tem and Dan were eventually taken in by a human couple who did their best to raise them well, and while Tem appreciates the work they put into raising them and attempting to keep them connected with their home culture, they've grown distant over the years due to some complicated feelings about their childhood and general feelings of alienation from what should have been their culture and life.
While Tem does still participate in aspects of Chlâsle Chenesht culture (having found a small group of other Chlâsle Chenesht on the nexus to meet up with for holidays and occasional gatherings), they can come off as a little stilted, awkward, and aggressive towards other Chenesht due to their very human facial expressions and somewhat academic sounding language due to only speaking SGE. Additionally they come off as somewhat flippant and dismissive of Chlâsle cultural modesty standards, as while they participate in this aspect of their culture, they still wear a teen's headscarf despite being a fully grown adult and sometimes forego it altogether in situations where they're just chilling with their friends.
**Cob-parent and Reeve-parent refer to the two binary Chenesht sexes, Cob and Reeve. These are approximated english translations
